Toby’s Story

I can’t believe how much I have achieved in the past 5 years. Since joining the academy, I have played a vital role in 3 major art projects. Now when a new project comes around, I’m asked to take the technical lead.

Zach’s Story

Best work experience ever! I have tried so many new things this summer, it’s really helped me work out what kind of job I want in the future. My CV is full of new skills too!

Janet’s Story

…I just wanted to say thank you to you for the experience of singing in your project The Light. I really enjoyed the rehearsals and performance at Romsey Abbey. I haven’t sung for more than 20 years since I was at school & I had forgotten how enjoyable it is & what a boost it gives you. I have walking difficulties & fatigue from MS and wasn’t sure I could join a choir but I’m going to give it a go now…

Last year our volunteers created two stunning projects in Salisbury Cathedral

The Light – a stunning art installation dubbed ‘a beacon of hope’ by Sky News

Songs Of The Light – a spectacular multimedia concert with live music, film & light display, drawing in crowds of over 600 people.

Both projects offered our team the chance to explore a whole range of different disciplines, from designing and building a projection control system from scratch, to performing live in front of 600+ strong audiences.

Our volunteers worked alongside professional composer & artist Richard McLester, internationally renowned designer Mark Sanders and playwright & poet Peter John Cooper. We encouraged them to take responsibility for critical parts of the project, providing them with the training, mentoring & industry standard tools they needed to bring their projects to life.
