Songs Of The Light

the road to golgotha passion christSongs Of The Light was written and recorded as the soundtrack to the launch ceremony of The Light art installation, a huge illuminated globe. Conical Sphere Music recorded, engineered and manufactured the project.

Written, performed and produced by Richard McLester, the CD also includes St Peter’s Parkstone Parish Choir.

The work takes it’s inspiration from a large number of community interviews done by Richard McLester as part of the larger project The Light. The work was premiered in Poole Dolphin Shopping Centre, and also performed in Romsey Abbey.

The Road To Golgotha.

the road to golgotha passion christThe Road To Golgotha was written and recorded as the soundtrack to the 2014 performances of The Poole Passion, Dorset’s largest community theatre project. Conical Sphere Music recorded, engineered and manufactured the project.

Written, performed and produced by Richard McLester and featuring vocalist Alexandra Wehlau, the CD also includes Tim Fisher (1st Violins, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) and Jonathan Prentice (Professional Baritone Soloist).

The work combines traditional music, even using the ancient original Aramaic language with more modern rhythms and production techniques.

An Evening Cantata.

an-evening-cantata-wimborne-minsterAn Evening Cantata was a major project undertaken by Wimborne Minster, Dorset. Musician Sam Hanson was commissioned to write a large choral work and Conical Sphere Music recorded, engineered and manufactured the project.

Conducted by David Gostick, the choristers of Wimborne Minster performed the work over 3 sessions accompanied by Sam Hanson on piano and Sean Tucker on organ.

Combining virtuoso piano playing with children’s choirs, the work includes two major extended musical settings of the Passion of Jesus and The Exodus Of The Israelites (including piano variations).

Cloth For The Cradle.

cloth-for-the-cradle-tabernacleCloth For The Cradle was a giant tabernacle that was designed and built by Richard McLester to accompany the service Carols By Candlelight 2013 at St Peter’s Parkstone, based on the Iona Community Cloth For The Cradle Service.

At the culmination of the service, the entire structure was lifted up to a point high above the congregation in the middle of the nave of the church.

As The Star Appears.
As The Star Appears Christmas Carol
Artist and composer Richard McLester worked together with soprano soloist Alexandra Wehlau to record a new carol for 4 part choir called As The Star Appears.

The carol is available on CD accompanied by 5 reflective improvisations on Christmas Carols performed on solo piano.

Richard also designed a spectacular star sculpture that hung above the congregation for the premier performance of the carol and over the Christmas period at St Peter’s Church in Parkstone, Poole, Dorset.

Piano In The Sea.

Designed as a piece of performance art by Richard McLester, pianist Sam Hanson gave a performance of the Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg before the pair took the piano into the sea and performed on it in front of the Mayor of Poole.

Oposium.

piano-on-fireIn 2010, Oposium produced their album Life Under The Sun with Conical Sphere Music and won a national endorsement award from electronics manufacturer Roland.

The band performed regularly from 2008 onwards and became known for incorporating a piano that was played while on fire into their stage performances.
