The Light is a huge illuminated globe. Designed as a high-impact focal art installation, the globe has been used as a focal piece for community projects run by Conical Sphere Music.
The Light, ROMSEY
In February 2017, the globe travelled to Romsey, Hampshire where over 250 singers came together for the launch ceremony. The project was used to highlight issues surrounding mental health.
The Light, POOLE
The Light premiered in Poole Dolphin Shopping Centre for Christmas 2015. The globe hung in the shopping centre for 12 weeks.
From giving young interns who get the chance to work on a project using technology that might be otherwise unavailable or unaffordable, to volunteers who get the opportunity to push personal boundaries and benefit from highlighting issues within local communities, the vision behind the project is to give new opportunities through experience for people of all backgrounds.
A Giant Advent Wreath
Designed for Christmas 2014 by artist Richard McLester, the wreath hung in St Peter’s Parkstone church for 12 weeks and was captured on film as part of a wider community based project.
The Passion Of Christ
50 minutes of epic and original music that follows the Passion of Christ. Written and produced by Richard McLester featuring vocalist Alexandra Wehlau, violinist Tim Fisher, (1st Violins, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) and professional baritone Jonathan Prentice.
As The Star Appears
Designed by Richard McLester and built over an 8 week period by a dedicated team of volunteers, the installation hung in the centre of the Nave at St Peter’s Parkstone Church for the whole of the Christmas and Epiphany period in 2012.
The Piano In The Sea
A piece of performance art by Richard McLester on a specially painted piano performed in the front of the Mayoress of Poole, Councillor Judy Butt.
An Evening Cantata
An Evening Cantata was a major project undertaken by Wimborne Minster, Dorset. Musician Sam Hanson was commissioned to write a large choral work and Conical Sphere Music recorded, engineered and manufactured the project.
Cloth For The Cradle
A giant tabernacle that was designed by Richard McLester and built to accompany the service Carols By Candlelight 2013 at St Peter’s Parkstone, based on the Iona Community Cloth For The Cradle Service.
